Your Auto Repair Questions |

|
THE
FOLLOWING ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED AS A GENERAL AND PRACTICAL GUIDE.
YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR OWN ATTORNEY FOR SPECIFIC LEGAL ADVICE. |
What should I look for in choosing a mechanical service repair shop?
National surveys
indicate the highest customer satisfaction is recorded by family owned/operated,
independent garages. The trick is finding one that can offer the technical expertise
and expanded services usually associated with the largest of dealers or national chains,
yet small enough to know you and your vehicle.
How do I know if I can trust the shop?
Establishing an
ongoing relationship with a repair shop ranks right up there in importance with obtaining
any professional service, such as doctor, attorney or accountant. Conduct an on site
interview. Check with people you know and respect. Check with consumer-related
organizations such as the BBB and AAA. Ask for credentials.
I see "ASE Certified" signs up at most
garages. What do they mean?
It stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service
Excellence. Their certification testing is the most rigorous in the
industry, covering every aspect of vehicle repair.
If I see an ASE sign at a garage can I be sure the all
the technicians there are ASE certified?
No. An ASE sign only means that the minimum
requirement has been met. And that is one technician with one certification.
What does the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence designation
mean?
This is a sign of
commitment to education and certification unparalleled in the automotive industry.
This indicates over 80% certifications by the technicians performing the repairs.
The technicians and service manager at Automotive Excellence are even more the
exception: they are ASE Master Certified
automotive technicians.
Why do I hear from some garages, "you better take
your car back to the dealer for that problem"?
Probably because they
may not have the technical expertise, information and equipment to diagnose computer
related drivability problems. Here at Automotive Excellence you will occasionally
hear that response...when the problem is under warranty.
What kinds of services are offered at Automotive
Excellence?
We perform all minor
and major automotive repairs on cars, vans and trucks up to 1 ton truck. We are a
proponent of preventive maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer of your vehicle.
Besides maintenance, we offer the full spectrum of service and repair including
diagnostics, steering, suspension, exhaust, air conditioning, brakes and tires to name a
few.
If my car fails the E-Check, can you do the necessary
diagnostics and repair?
Yes. Automotive
Excellence is designated an Ohio EPA E-Check repair facility. We will even have your
vehicle retest performed for you after we complete the needed repairs.
What services don't you do?
Automotive Excellence
technicians do not rebuild engines or transmissions. We have found it advantageous
to prescribe either new or remanufactured assemblies. We do perform the removal and
installation of these components as well as any ancillary work required.
Do I need an appointment for service or repairs?
Yes. Although we do allow some time for emergency
service, we typically require an appointment. This is even true for an oil change.
Why would I bother to make an appointment for an oil
change, when I can just pull into any of the fast oil and lube dealers around?
Our clients appreciate the fact that their lube, oil and
filter change will be performed by an ASE Master
Certified Technician, with years of experience.
Do you have a 24-hour key drop?
Yes. We have a secure 24-hour key drop. It is
well lit at night and quite easy to find on the southeast corner of our building.
You may use one of our key drop envelopes located at the key drop site, or to save time
you can print a key drop form from
our web site, and simply place it an envelope with your keys.
